Swiss Made Appby SMART GmbH

The standard

Criteria that can be explained.

Swiss Made App combines the Swiss origin of a service with additional transparency requirements for digital products.

Baseline: Swiss responsibility

For services, Swiss origin requires the company to have its registered office in Switzerland and to be actually managed from Switzerland. Swiss Made App adds product-specific criteria.

Five binding criteria

A product may use the mark only for the scope described in the register.

1. Swiss operator

The operator has its registered office and actual management in Switzerland and assumes legal and operational product responsibility.

2. Accountable product governance

Key product, security, privacy and operating decisions have named responsibility in Switzerland.

3. Transparent data locations

Storage, processing and significant external service providers are described for the product.

4. Documented safeguards

Access control, encrypted transport, minimisation, change management and incident handling are documented.

5. Public, current entry

Operator, scope, status and date are public. Material changes require reassessment.

Assessment and status model

The assessment is a documented self-assessment by SMART GmbH, not external certification.

Admission

Define the product

The public scope and responsible entity are confirmed.

Assessment

Review the evidence

Criteria are assessed against available organisational and technical records.

Continuation

Update at least annually

Assessment is repeated annually and after material changes.

Limits of the statement

The mark does not guarantee freedom from outages, data loss, vulnerabilities or legal violations. It replaces no mandatory approval or independent audit.

Legal context

The use of “Swiss” indications of source and the Swiss cross is governed by Swiss law. The current information of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property is authoritative.
